Sugar beet

Sugar beet

  • Sugar beet refers to plants with quite significant nutritional needs. The accumulation of nutrients occurs in three stages. In each of these, potassium dominates over the other components, even nitrogen.
  • At the beginning of the growing season, the regime of optimal plant nutrition by the N-P-K complex (mineral fertilizers consisting of nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P), potassium (K) in the form available for absorption) is very important. In this phase, beets especially intensively accumulate K and N.
  • Potassium is very important for sugar beet; plant requiring higher doses of potassium during the whole season.
  • Sensitive to the lack of boron and manganese, with a lack of these trace elements develops “heart rot”, decreases the sugar content, yield.
  • Calcium improves the quality of root crops, helps to reduce losses during transportation.
